Thomas Villiger is the Head of the Bioprocess Technology Laboratory at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), a position he has held since 2019. Before returning to academia, he gained over a decade of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, holding various positions in process development and commercial manufacturing.
His research focuses on advancing novel biopharmaceutical modalities and optimizing their manufacturing processes. This involves the integration and further development of cutting-edge experimental technologies, advanced process analytical methods, and mathematical modeling to enhance both product yield and quality.
Thomas holds a Master’s degree in Chemical and Bioengineering from ETH Zurich, where he also completed his PhD. Additionally, he earned an Executive Master of Business Administration from IMD Lausanne.
