Dr Olughu is a Senior Principal Scientist at Ipsen Biopharm Ltd UK, where he leads as the CMC Technical Lead for a preclinical antibody-drug conjugate. His career spans both academia and industry, establishing him as a renowned expert in biotechnology and bioprocess engineering. This dual expertise has equipped him with a deep understanding of translating foundational laboratory principles into large-scale commercial manufacturing.

At Ipsen, Dr Olughu’s technical leadership within the BioPharmaceutical Development team focuses on the characterisation, optimisation, and advancement of bioprocesses. His areas of expertise include scale-up/down methodologies, process intensification, the seamless integration of Process Analytical Technology (PAT), in silico bioprocess modelling, and the implementation of cell-free synthesis techniques for biologics production.

Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Dr Olughu is a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor at Loughborough University, where he shapes the curriculum and lectures in the Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering module. Additionally, he contributes significantly to the academic community as an editorial board member for the World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology and the Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology.
