Akin is a seasoned professional in the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) sector, recognized for extensive investment expertise and a commitment to data-driven decision-making. Currently serving as the Chief Services Officer at Altrio, a pioneering technology firm in the CRE space, Akin oversees the strategic design and delivery of Altrio's service offerings, including Data Service and Professional Services. Akin plays a pivotal role in driving efficiency and confidence for CRE investors globally through Altrio’s flagship product, Origin, an all-in-one data-driven deal management platform. Origin enhances the investment process with accurate market data, automated workflows, and streamlined opportunity identification, enabling investors to make more informed decisions more rapidly.

Before joining Altrio, Akin spent nearly five years in the public markets as an investment analyst at a leading Canadian business bank. This experience led to a transition into the private market of CRE investment at a real estate private equity firm in Toronto. There, Akin was instrumental in the acquisition and asset management of over $500 million in assets. Responsibilities included sourcing and due diligence, acquisition, asset management, and capital raising, as well as overseeing the disposition of legacy CRE assets to rebalance the portfolio and achieve strong returns for investors.

Akin holds an undergraduate degree in Financial and Business Economics from York University and a master’s degree in Finance from the Schulich School of Business, where Akin was honored with the Dean’s Scholarship. Akin is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
