Mack Kuo earned his B.S. in Biology from Baylor University and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University, where he focused on x-ray crystallography and structure-based drug design of proteins essential to tuberculosis and malaria. After obtaining his Ph.D., he began his professional career at Ambion as a Senior Scientist in the Protein Development Group working on protein engineering. Ambion was acquired by Applied Biosystems and subsequently merged with Invitrogen to become Life Technologies. Mack then worked in the Manufacturing Sciences and Engineering group at Life Technologies, primarily on bacterial and yeast fermentation as well as optimization of protein production. After Thermo Fisher acquired Life Technologies, he worked as a Staff Scientist in the Technical Operations group, focusing on technology transfers and scale-ups. He later joined Genopis in 2018 as the Process Development Manager for plasmid manufacturing. Since WACKER’s 2021 acquisition of Genopis and establishment of Wacker Biotech US in San Diego, Mack has served as Associate Director of Process Development.
