John has 33 years experience in ports, terminals and associated sectors, having worked as a shipping line central planner, container terminal planner, wharf supervisor and operations manager.

He has worked in a variety of corporate management roles for stevedores including P&O Ports, DP World and Patrick Container Ports (Asciano). Specialised in using Key Performance Indicators to drive operational efficiency and process improvements, as well as business analysis and business process re-engineering, he has worked with multi-cultural teams and out-sourcing.

Senior managerial experience, nationally and globally, includes project management on many complex and innovative implementations such as the world’s first truck booking system, shipping terminal control systems and labour allocation systems incorporating voice-activated response software and finger-scan technology.

He has managed both national and international project teams, including a team of Subject Matter Experts based in Australia, Belgium, Philippines, UK and the USA, engaged upon a multi-million pound I.T. system development project undertaken in India and Dubai, which included the functional requirement specifications for Automated Stacking Cranes for a major European container terminal.
