David Aldwinckle recently retired as a Senior Principal Surveyor and Manager at Lloyd’s Register having commenced duties with the Classification Society in 1969.

David is a visiting Professor at Southampton University lecturing and supporting research within their Maritime and Marine Institute. He has many years of experience in a ship design office, on the structural design of most ship types, the surveying of ships, Rule development, risk analysis of ships and offshore structures, and as the creator in 1986 of the computerised LR Ship Emergency Response Service. David also has experience as an Assessor in support of the UK Wreck Commissioner.
