Dr. René Fuertig is the Head of Neuroscience Strategic Partnering in BD+L at Boehringer Ingelheim, based in Germany. In this role, he and his team scout for first-in-class and breakthrough opportunities around the globe to find novel treatment approaches in the field of Neuroscience, specifically in Neurodegeneration & Mental health disorders. Dr. René Fuertig is a scientist and drug development expert with over 10 years of R&D experience. Before his current role, he led due diligences of preclinical and clinical stage in-licensing opportunities in the fields of Oncology, Cardio-Renal Metabolism, and CNS. Earlier, Dr. Fuertig held several positions at Boehringer Ingelheim mainly in CNS / Mental Health disorders, leading preclinical and clinical drug development teams and projects. This included roles as Project Leader for clinical and preclinical drug development projects, as well as subject matter expert in Translational Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology. Dr. Fuertig is a pharmacist by training and holds a PhD (University of Ulm, Germany) and an MBA from Goethe Business School in Frankfurt, Germany.
