Profile

Ying has more than 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience which is immersive of both western and Asian cultures, and which spans across business development, corporate strategy, commercial operations, R&D and manufacturing & supply. She is currently based in Shanghai, heading Sanofi’s Greater China Strategy & Business Development. In this role, Ying articulates and implements the Sanofi Greater China strategy, guides effective investment decisions, and executes licensing and M&A deals. The transactions that she led in her 3-year tenure thus far included: Sanofi licensing partnerships with Visirna/Arrowhead, Corxel/Cytokinetics, TJ Bio, BioNova, and Shanhai Pharma. She also led the creation of the co-fund: Sanofi-Cathay Innovation Venture Fund in China. These transactions laid the foundation for the sustainable growth of Sanofi’s business in China, and provided opportunities for Sanofi to source innovation from China and further integrate in China’s innovation ecosystem.

Prior to Sanofi, Ying was Sr. Vice President and Chief Business and Operations Officer at Fosun Pharmaceuticals, responsible for global business development and overseas businesses. Before Fosun, she had been with Pfizer for 17 years and was Vice President, Asia Strategy & Business Development. In both roles, Ying led multiple cross-border licensing and investment deals with established track records and recognitions in the China Biopharma community (Example deals include: Genuine Bio, LianBio, CStone, CanSino, etc). She was named on the list of Fortune China 2021 Most Powerful Women (MPW).

Ying holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering & Management Sciences from Northwestern University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Fudan University in Shanghai.
