Allan has over 30 years of international experience in the maritime industry with a focus on naval architecture and marine engineering. Starting his career as a naval architect in his native Denmark he worked in his family’s local ship consultancy firm focusing on arctic fishing vessels and at Rolls-Royce Marine in Aalesund, Norway. Further career advancement included AP Moller, Maersk Ship Design overseeing design and construction of vessels at the major Odense Steel Ship Yard and at China Shipbuilding Corporation in Taiwan.
In United States he worked for several years for Herbert Engineering Corp. as a naval architect with focus on vessel conversions and dockings as well as cargo and stability software development for US based shipping clients.
In his current role with leading Classification Society DNV he assists major US based international ship owners achieve a roadmap to decarbonization, secure compliance and optimize operations. Past experience with DNV includes several years in leadership positions as station manager with responsibility of DNV’s offices in New York, Philadelphia, Montreal and Halifax all building on his experience as a DNV ship surveyor and auditor.
Currently serving as DNV’s global Key Account Manager for USCG and was recently President of the Norwegian American Chamber of Commerce in New York.
