Alex, a Dutch native of 25 years, started his career in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and spent some time in France as well. He grew up in a family where everything was about food. At an early age he knew everything about mushrooms, how to properly set a table, how to make a Mirepoix and soups from scratch. Early on he learned that food was so much more than just eating. It is about the experience, the social happenings, the nourishing of the body and soul and a lot of fun! After moving to the US in 2003, Alex applied that to his career, holding several leadership positions at companies like The Ritz Carlton, Wegmans Food Markets, King’s Seafood Company, Fox Restaurant Concepts and Organic Krush. He has been intimately involved in creating and growing many new concepts from fast casual to fine dining, from hotel, to retail to free-standing. Alex’s obsession with food & hospitality carries on at Thompson Hospitality as the COO, on a mission to provide a positive experience to every relationship in which we are involved: one Guest, one Client, one Team Member at a time. Under Alex's helm, Thompson Restaurants operates 15 concepts with 72 restaurants, ranging from QSR to Fine Dining, currently located in DC, MD, VA, OH and FL. Thompson Hospitality also owns a hotel and manages Hotel F&B in several locations throughout the region.
