Catherine’s career in the maritime industry began with the design and development of Maritime English assessment and learning products. She was the original author of the IMO Model Course 3.17 – Maritime English and served as lead consultant for the IMO’s Maritime English Instructor Training Course. Through the IMO Technical Cooperation Programme, she delivered capacity-building and lecturer upskilling programmes at Maritime Education and Training Institutions (METIs) worldwide, helping to enhance global training standards.
Catherine led the Marlins business for sixteen years within V.Group, later becoming Business Development Director of V.Group Training Services, overseeing on-board, on-shore, and digital training services, as well as key account management. She joined OTG (Ocean Technologies Group) in 2020 following its acquisition of Marlins.
In her current role, Catherine engages with global stakeholders across all levels of maritime learning and training, from cadets and seafarers to flag states, training colleges, ship operators, and industry associations. She ensures that OneOcean’s training and certification solutions not only meet compliance standards but also support the evolving needs of employers and individuals throughout their careers.
Catherine is Vice Chair of the International Maritime Lecturers Association (IMLA) SIG on Maritime English, a member of WISTA, a Maritime SheEO Ambassador, and an active advocate for future skills development within the maritime sector. She is passionate about shaping and advancing the Human Capital Management (HCM) strategy within OneOcean.
