John Adams is former Managing Director of Teekay Shipping and V Ships UK & Americas; Chairman of the Bahamas Shipowner’s’ Association (BSA) and Vice-Chair at the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS).

John’s relationship with ICS continues as Chair of the LTM ‘Long-Term Measures’ (GHG) Working Group, building consensus amongst all national shipowner associations, developing strategy to meet the IMO Greenhouse Gas Goals. Stemming from this work, ICS has submitted ‘joint industry’ submissions to the IMO, most recently for both MEPC/ES2 and ISWG-GHG 20 in October.

Similarly, John acts as Advisor to the Board at BSA – which incorporates all shipping sectors (1500 vessels).

John is Chairman of Navguide Solutions, reimagining maritime competence for the modern era - in a time where regulatory landscapes are evolving rapidly (SIRE 2.0, Rightship, PSC), with the industry navigating complex transitions - from decarbonization to digital transformation. The Navguide flagship product ‘Guide2Inspections’ - the world’s only combined Training and Inspections solution - sets out the journey towards the organic upskilling of Seafarers, providing a unique blend of knowledge and innovation, with deep understanding of Maritime Sector challenges and needs. John is also former Chairman of both the INTERTANKO Human Element in Shipping Committee (HEiSC), and the SIGTTO Human Element Committee (HEC).
