Katherine Avelino, better known in the industry as Karen, has been an active speaker/participant at various international maritime fora. She is currently the Executive director of Business Development and the Senior Vice President of the Cruise Division of Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc., one of the biggest Crew Management and Crew Agency organization in the Philippines.

Karen boasts over 18 years of maritime experience, encompassing Business Development, Training, Crew Development, and manpower supply for leading cruise line companies. Presently, she serves as the President of the Philippine Association of Maritime Training Centers, Inc., Executive Committee member of MSC Crewing Services, Inc., a Board of Trustee member of the Filipino Shipowners Association, a Board of Director at RCCL Crew Management, Inc. Her exceptional contributions have been acknowledged through the prestigious title of Maritime SheEO of the year in 2023 by Maritime SheEO, an esteemed global organization dedicated to driving positive change in the maritime and related industries through initiatives focusing on diversity & inclusion (D&I), leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, and competitive advantage.
