Profile
Recently appointed as the ITF Accredited Representative at the IMO, they bring extensive maritime knowledge to the role, following six years of sea experience, one year as a Technical Advisor for the Norwegian Union of Marine Engineers, and several years in union leadership positions. In this capacity, they advocate for seafarers' rights, develop strategies, and uphold international maritime safety standards. Over the course of their seafaring career, they progressed through various positions to achieve the rank of 1st Officer, primarily serving on tankers and gas carriers.
In their union roles, they served for five years as President of the Algerian Women Seafarers Committee and as Chair of the Algerian Youth Transport Workers Committee. Additionally, they have been a member of the ITF Maritime Safety Committee for over a year and have contributed as an expert in multiple IMO meetings.
Their academic background includes a degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, a Master's in Navigational Science from the High Maritime School of Algeria, and a second Master's in Maritime Affairs, specializing in Maritime Energy Management, from the World Maritime University (WMU).
