Mailyn Borillo is a pioneering leader in the maritime industry, serving as the first female Managing Director and President of OSM Thome Philippines. With almost 30 years of experience, she has held senior leadership positions at major maritime companies, including Maersk and TORM. Her expertise spans vessel operations, finance, technical purchasing, and Marine HR.
Her shipping career began in 1994 at Maersk Filipinas, for 18 years, both in Philippines and in Denmark. She rose from the ranks, as a Vessel Operations Coordinator upto The Head of Crewing. In 2012, she became President of TORM Shipping Philippines.
Mailyn believes that a leader’s most important role is to continuously develop people, both ashore and onboard, through a holistic program that emphasizes not only technical and behavioral skills but also life skills. She believes that only through continuous development of people can operational excellence be achieved.
A passionate advocate for corporate social responsibility, Borillo founded the OSM-AD Foundation in 2015, leading impactful initiatives in education and disaster response, including supporting 25 schools and offering college scholarships. Her commitment to sustainability, diversity, and inclusion is reflected in the significant changes within OSM Thome's workforce, with women comprising over 60% of the Philippines’ office, and 44% of it’s leadership team.
Borillo has received numerous awards throughout her career, including the Influential Leader Award at the 2024 Nordic-Philippine Business Awards, the Asia CEO Awards Circle of Excellence for Shero of the Year (2019), and the Safety 4 Sea Management Award (2022), among others. Through her strategic, inclusive, and sustainable approach, Mailyn continues to shape the future of the maritime industry while making a profound impact on both her organization and the communities it serves.
