Sara BaadeCEO at Sailors’ SocietySpeaker
Profile
Sara Baade joined Sailors’ Society as Chief Executive Officer in September 2020, bringing with her extensive experience in management and international charity leadership. Previously, she served as CEO of The Army Families Federation, supporting service families worldwide. Her career has also included roles as a senior civil servant and in investment banking, providing a strong and versatile foundation for her leadership. Since joining Sailors’ Society — a global maritime welfare charity — Sara has led a significant transformation of the organisation.
She has overseen the development and launch of a comprehensive virtual support offering for seafarers, including digital wellness training, 24/7 crisis response, and mental health services, all designed to meet the evolving needs of those working at sea. Under her leadership, the charity has also become a data-driven organisation, using evidence and insight to better understand and respond to the challenges faced by seafarers around the world. In addition, Sara has introduced a dedicated suite of support for cadets, recognising the unique pressures faced by those at the very start of their maritime careers and helping to prepare the next generation of seafarers for life at sea. She is a committed advocate for maritime welfare, working to ensure that every seafarer — from cadet to captain — has access to meaningful, accessible, and effective support.
