Tommy Olofsen is the Chief Commercial Officer & President at OSM Thome, a Norwegian Ship Management company with a total management of 1000 vessels and 29,000 seafarers
Tommy started his career as a deck cadet with A.P. Moller in 1990, and graduated as a Master Mariner in 1995. He then joined the Danish navy and to this date remains a Lieutenant of the reserves. Tommy went ashore with A.P. Moller in 1999 as a Marine Superintendent. The following years Tommy worked in a number of managerial and senior executive roles within the Global A.P. Moller Maersk organization including positions in Philippines, The Netherlands and Qatar.
In 2008 Tommy joined Teekay as the Global Director for Marine HR & Training based in Glasgow. In 2011 Tommy joined TORM as Vice President, and finally in 2014 Tommy joined OSM as part of the executive management team, where he has held positions including Managing Director, CCO, President & Executive Chairman.
Tommy has a fundamental belief in that performance and safety is all about people, and that all Ship management must be focused on developing the best environment allowing seafarers to develop, grow and perform. As part of this, Tommy has been involved in a high number of industry wide initiatives focused on the safety and performance on board vessels. This includes joining the Intertanko Human Element Committee in 2011 and Chairing the Human Element Committee. Tommy is today the Chair of the European Panel in Intertanko.
Tommy has in addition to his education as a Master Mariner, undertaking executive education in Europe and the US. He has an MBA from Henley Business School, where he graduated in 2014. Tommy is Married to Anette and have two children, Selma and Marius.
