James is a director of asset management regulation at the Alternative Investment Management Association (“AIMA”).

Prior to joining AIMA he worked at the Financial Conduct Authority for 16 years where he was most recently a technical specialist in its International Division and was the FCA’s representative on the International Organization of Securities Commission’s Committee 5 on Investment Management.

Between 2013 and 2016 James was seconded from the FCA to the asset management unit of the European Commission’s DG FISMA where he was a member of the team that developed the ELTIF Regulation as well as the EuVECA, EuSEF and PRIIPs regulations.
