Ian Wigginton is the Head Of Delivery for the Consulting Division of Nuvia Ltd based in the UK. He has worked in the Nuclear Industry since 1992 having graduated from Coventry Polytechnic (now Coventry University).

For the first 18 years of his career, he worked at the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) at Aldermaston in the UK moving from Plant Engineer of the Radioactive Effluent Treatment Plant through to becoming the Waste Compliance Manager for both the Aldermaston and Burghfield sites responsible for ensuring waste from both operations and decommissioning of redundant facilities was being handled, packaged and where possible, disposed of appropriately and in compliance with UK Regulatory and IAEA Safeguards requirements.

He was instrumental in driving AWE waste producers into exploring alternatives to grout and disposal of all it’s lower activity wastes and set up processes for the diversion of AWE waste away from the UK National Low Level Waste Repository.

In June 2010, Ian joined Nuvia Ltd as a Principal Consultant providing support to clients around the world in Waste & Decommissioning issues.

He has been involved in acting as the International Consultant to the decommissioning of a Pool Type fuel Storage Facility at a former Soviet Naval Base in North West Russia, provided waste management support to the decommissioning of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant in Bulgaria as well as managing a large quantity of waste and decommissioning assessments in the UK and managing Specialist Nuclear Services frameworks supporting the UK Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).

Away from work, Ian has two young children and also is a Magistrate in the UK.
