Nick is a Senior Project Manager and Technical Consultant with over 40 years of experience in the nuclear industry. He has built an enviable portfolio of practical experience which has been developed into a project management and consultancy role that delivers an excellent understanding of how to resolve problems and fulfil customer requirements safely and effectively. Nick initially completed a mechanical engineering technician’s apprenticeship with UKAEA and has since project managed a varied and wide range of successful projects. Nick has specialist experience and knowledge in radioactive decontamination and the decommissioning of plant and facilities, but has also completed operations, design / build and installation, projects for many clients within the nuclear industry. A selection of projects include, but are not limited to; the design, manufacture and installation of caesium removal units at Magnox power stations. The refurbishment of glove boxes at a facility in AWE. The decommissioning of neutron detectors for the MoD at Faslane. The decommissioning of radiochemical contaminated fume cupboards for DRA at Holton Heath. The decontamination of a Fuel Route at Wylfa Power Station. Nick also has extensive experience and knowledge of the UKAEA Winfrith site having been involved first in the operation followed by the decommissioning of the Steam Generating Heavy Water Reactor (SGHWR). He was also responsible as Project Manager for the decommissioning of the category one Active Handling Facility at Winfrith. Nick currently provides technical consultancy to the MoD on the high profile and complex Submarine Dismantling Project as the Technical Integration Manager.
Nick has co authored and presented several papers at various nuclear industry conferences since 2005 and had an article published in ‘Nuclear Future’ the magazine of the Nuclear Institute.
