Mr Peter BurgessRadiation Measurement Advisor at Radiation Metrology LtdSpeaker
Profile
Pete has a mediocre degree in Natural Philosophy and a better MSc in radiobiology. He joined the National Radiological Protection Board in 1975, moved to UKAEA in 2002, to NPL in 2006 and then to Nuvia in 2008. After 6 years he went independent. Formal involvement in sorting out wastes at the low end started in about 1985 in the non-nuclear world with radium luminising waste. Then nuclear came along, starting with 150 tonnes of steel chequer plate with uranium contamination under glue. This has progressed via the Clearance and Exemption Working Group as the “instrument geek” according to one well-known personality.
