David P. A. Mullings is a Jamaican investor and philanthropist. He is the founder and Chair of Blue Mahoe Holdings, a private impact investment firm focused primarily on the Caribbean that is planning to list their core holding, Blue Mahoe Capital, on the NASDAQ. David has made it his mission to unlock diaspora capital for the Caribbean. His journey is a powerful blend of entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and commitment to shaping a legacy that transcends borders. The Mullings Family Foundation committed to endowing a US$2.5 million matched scholarship for the Miami Herbert Business School for students focused on Caribbean economic development.
He is the recipient of the distinguished 2021 American Foundation of the University of the West Indies Chancellor’s Award for Business Excellence, President-elect of the Alumni Board of Directors for his alma mater, the University of Miami, serves on the Latin America and Caribbean Initiatives Advisory Board at the Miami Herbert Business School, serves on the Board of Directors for the Institute of Caribbean Studies in Washington, D.C. and on numerous boards of organizations and companies in the USA and Jamaica. He is a proud Forbes Council member and contributor.
Mullings is a dynamic and forward-thinking businessman who has positioned himself and his companies to be a catalyst that can revolutionize business not just in the United States but also in Jamaica, the Caribbean and the African Diaspora. Along with innovative business practices, Mullings prioritizes educating people on how triple bottom line investing works to generate profits while benefiting people and being planet-positive.
Mullings was the first Future Leaders Representative for the USA on the Jamaica Diaspora Advisory Board and a weekly columnist for the Jamaica Observer newspaper. He began his career at Jamaica National Building Society and held three positions at different periods, most notably as part of the Marketing and Business Development team where he helped to design investment, mortgage and savings products and oversaw electronic channels for the entire group, launching their internet banking platform JN Live. He worked for Left Brain Capital Management, a Chicago-based long-biased hedge fund, immediately before launching Blue Mahoe.
Mr. Mullings graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami at the tender age of 19. He then played football (soccer) with Real Mona F.C. in Jamaica, returning to graduate school and completing his M.B.A. from the University of Miami at the age of 22, with concentrations in Marketing and International Business. He was born in Jamaica and raised between Kingston and Miami. Mr. Mullings has been married to Kathryn since 2007 and has 3 children.
