Rashad Kaldany is a Managing Partner and Founder of Blue like an Orange Sustainable Capital. He is the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Blue like an Orange. Prior to joining Blue like an Orange in July 2017, Rashad was the Executive Vice President of Growth Markets for Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec (CDPQ). As Executive VP, Rashad implemented the strategy to double CDPQ’s assets to US$35 billion, opened offices in Singapore, New Delhi, and Mexico City, and increased investments from US$0.5 billion to US$4 billion from 2013 to 2016.
Rashad previously spent 25 years at the IFC. The last five years (from 2009 to 2013) were in senior management positions, the last of which was Chief Operating Officer (COO), where he was responsible for all of IFC's investment and advisory activities. IFC was profitable each year, with an average of nearly US$1.5b in profits, with annual investment volumes in debt and equity reaching US$10b, in an approximate 75/25 ratio.
Rashad was co-chair of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council Infrastructure (14-16) and co-chair of the Global Future Council on LongTerm Investments, Infrastructure, and Development (’16-18). Rashad was a member of the Emerging Market Private Equity Association's Board of Directors (16-17), and several boards of directors of Indian companies in the 90s. Rashad completed a PhD in Biochemistry from Columbia University in 1982 and an MBA from Stanford University in 1988.
