Barry Doherty is a practising barrister based in Dublin. He is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, the College of Europe in Bruges, and the Kings Inns (Dublin). He has been following competition law since the mid-1990s, and did his PhD on competition law in 1996. Earlier in his career he worked in the European Commission Legal Service, including a spell in the competition team with a particular focus on telecommunications. He has represented the Commission in many competition cases before the EU courts, including (most recently) the pending Airfreight II appeals. He has also appeared in competition cases before the Irish courts, and advises on competition law for public and private clients.
