Aaron is a Principal Associate in the Antitrust, Competition and Trade practice of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, based in Brussels. He has over a decade of extensive experience advising on all areas of EU, UK and international competition law, with particular expertise in complex merger control proceedings and cross-border antitrust investigations.
He has advised clients on several complex Phase I and Phase II merger control filings requiring remedies to the European Commission and other international competition authorities. His merger control work includes advising on Holcim/Lafarge, HHI/DSME, Maersk Line/Hamburg Sud, H3G Italy/WIND, Saint-Gobain/GCP, and AstraZeneca/Alexion.
Aaron also regularly advises on cross-border investigations into anti-competitive agreements and abuse of dominance, global antitrust compliance and best practice, and on competition and regulatory issues in litigation and arbitration proceedings, including in investigations into cross-border Pay-TV and LNG imports and in UK litigation relating to airline insolvencies and restructuring (Monarch Airlines, Flybe).
Aaron is a leading practitioner in emerging digital markets regulation in Europe and the UK, with extensive experience advising major tech companies on the impact of and ongoing compliance with emerging digital regulatory regimes including in particular the EU’s Digital Markets Act and the UK Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act. He is experienced in advising at the intersection of competition law, digital markets regulation and data privacy. Aaron has His experience includes a secondment at a major tech client advising on all aspects of Digital Markets Act compliance.
