Profile
Mahfuza is the Head of Credit Insurance Products in the Syndications & Mobilization department at IFC, the private-sector arm of the World Bank Group, based in Washington, D.C. In this role, she manages risk distribution to insurance companies for IFC’s debt investments in emerging and frontier markets. Mahfuza’s responsibilities include managing risks on both single-transactions and portfolios, notably through IFC’s Managed Co-Lending Portfolio Program for Financial Institutions (MCPP FIG). MCPP FIG has raised more than $6.5 billion insurance capacity that enables IFC to lend at least $13 billion to emerging markets. With expertise spanning project finance, corporate finance, and financial institution lending risks, Mahfuza has orchestrated insurance contracts in almost 50 countries. Mahfuza joined IFC in 2008 as an Investment Officer, focused on increasing investments in Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. Prior to joining IFC, Mahfuza gained valuable experience at Citi in India and Bangladesh. She holds a Masters in International Business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade.
