Juan de Miguel Salanova is an industrial engineer for the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), specialised in energy technologies, and has more than 20 years of experience working in energy regulation and management of EU funding programmes in the energy sector. After working for the Spanish electricity TSO and the Spanish and French Energy Commissions, in 2011 he started working for the EU at the European Agency for the Coordination of Energy Regulators (ACER) and since 2015 he works for the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Energy (CINEA) of the European Commission. Over 10 years of the CEF-Energy programme, he has supervised the implementation of 80+ EU-funded projects in gas and CO₂ networks with a total EU funding of nearly 2 billion EUR, and since 2024 he is responsible for the Hydrogen, Smart gas grids and CO₂ Networks sectors.
