Profile

Matthew Fonte is the founder and President of ColdSnap, a Massachusetts-based brand revolutionizing the commercial frozen treat market with its patented, pod based rapid freezing appliance. Under his leadership, ColdSnap’s innovative system transforms shelf stable formulations into ice cream, smoothies, frozen lattes and even boozy confections in roughly two minutes, delivering exceptional creaminess without refrigeration or cleanup.

Prior to ColdSnap, Matt built two technology driven manufacturing ventures from the ground up. For more than two decades he co led Dynamic Flowform Corp., his family’s precision flow forming business, scaling it into a market leader before its acquisition by Allegheny Technologies, Inc. in February 2014. In 2011, Matt founded MX Orthopedics to pioneer minimally invasive fracture fixation implants using shape memory alloy nitinol -- he successfully sold MX Orthopedics to Arthrex, Inc. in 2016.

A dedicated inventor and pioneer, Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Boston College, a master’s and doctorate degree in mechanical engineering from Tufts University and more recently, an executive development certificate from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

In addition to leading ColdSnap, Matt is on the Engineering Advisory and Partnership Board at Boston College and is a lecturer at BC’s Carroll School of Management, where he mentors the next generation of entrepreneurs and engineers.

He is published in technical, peer-reviewed journals and is named on 116 issued patents. Matt is a lifelong learner and enjoys all things entrepreneurial, creating disruptive technologies with friends. He credits the spark for ColdSnap to invention journals he kept with his two young daughters, proof that collaboration and curiosity can lead to industry changing breakthroughs.
