Profile
Andrew Ko is a strategy and finance executive with over 25 years of experience across Australia and South East Asia, including an established career in investment banking focusing on M&A advisory and capital raising transactions for companies in the financial services and telecommunications, media and technology (TMT) sectors.
As the Head of Group Strategy at Aware Super, Andrew is responsible for the 2030 enterprise strategy at Aware Super, one of Australia’s largest pension funds (~$230B in funds under management and 1.3 million members). In his role, Andrew leads the development and execution of corporate strategy at the fund and works closely with the Board and management to provide strategic thought leadership and analysis to inform critical decision-making.
Prior to joining Aware, Andrew was the Head of Strategy at the Australian Retirement Trust (ART), where he led the development of the inaugural corporate strategy for the fund in 2022, which established the longer-term vision, purpose and strategic objectives for ART in a five year strategic plan (post the merger between Sunsuper and QSuper).
Andrew was formerly the General Manager of Financial Strategy at Telstra, advising the Board and senior management on a range of strategic and financial topics including capital management and developing the five year strategic plan known as T25. He was also a Director of Corporate Strategy at Optus, advising on a range of strategic projects and leading the competitor intelligence and insights function. Prior roles in the Investment Banking industry included senior executive positions at Lazard, ABN AMRO, RBS and CIMB.
