Mattan Lurie is a Portfolio Manager at VenturesLab, an Asia-based single-family office established by a technology entrepreneur from mainland China.

At VenturesLab, Mattan invests across the technology ecosystem through public equities, direct investments in private technology companies, and commitments as a limited partner to private equity and venture capital funds in the United States and China. This broad mandate gives him a distinctive perspective on the technology megatrends shaping early-stage companies, private capital and public markets.

Mattan brings extensive experience across technology, renewable energy, climate technology, healthcare and strategic investments. He played a pivotal role in scaling Hanwha Solar from a start-up into a top-three global solar company, helping to establish international offices, recruit senior executives and prepare the business for an initial public offering.

Before joining VenturesLab, Mattan was a Senior Investment Director at Ally Bridge Group, where he oversaw healthcare-focused growth-capital investments across China, the United States and Israel. Earlier in his career, he held roles at Fosun Group, Citigroup and CITIC Securities, developing deep expertise in private equity, strategic investments, capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, and the execution of complex cross-border transactions.

Fluent in Mandarin and deeply familiar with the Asia-Pacific investment landscape, Mattan brings a cross-cultural perspective to identifying and evaluating opportunities across rapidly evolving industries. He holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management and a BA with High Honors from the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated in the top 2% of his class. He also studied Mandarin at Fudan University, completed biotechnology coursework at the University of Pennsylvania and is an alumnus of the GoingVC venture capital programme.
