Profile

Dr. Khalid Al-Kinani works as Head of the Biologics and Biosimilars Registration Committee within the Iraqi Ministry of Health (MOH). The committee’s main duties include assessing marketing authorization applications (MAA) of biological medicines, including vaccines and biosimilars, and granting marketing authorizations after a thorough Common Technical Dossiers (CTDs) assessment and targeted manufacturers inspection. Khalid is a member of the Biosimilars Taskforce which was formed in 2019 to work jointly with the Iraqi National Formulary Board (INFB) to ensure a smooth and efficient introduction of biosimilars to the Iraqi healthcare system and increase patients’ access to biological medicines.

Khalid is also a faculty member of College of Pharmacy at the University of Baghdad and teaches several courses such as pharmaceutical biotechnology course for fifth grade students. He also works as a consultant for the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (EMRO) on couple projects. During his early career, Khalid worked as a pharmacist and then he earned his Ph.D. in pharmaceutical biotechnology from the University of Kansas, School of Pharmacy in 2017."
