David J. Barboza, AICP, is a Senior Housing Policy Specialist with the California Department of Housing and Community Development's Accessory Dwelling Unit Team. In this role he provides technical assistance, reviews ADU ordinances, and makes policy recommendations related to State ADU Law. He has over a decade of city planning experience working for state and local government and as a housing advocate in the nonprofit sector. He is passionate about the environmental, social and economic benefits of ADUs, and sees them, along with other forms of infill development, as a key strategy for addressing California's housing affordability challenges.
