Matthew Edwards is a partner at Osborne Clarke's London office, leading a growing team of expert Corporate lawyers.

He leads a relationship-driven practice, primarily advising clients in Life Sciences. He combines deep sector knowledge with a global perspective to help his clients achieve their strategic objectives. He advises on a wide range of corporate matters, including venture capital investments, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, IPOs and other securities issues.

Matthew uses his more than twenty years' experience in the Life Sciences sector to deliver cohesive, decisive advice grounded in his clients' commercial reality. He has worked with companies at all stages of development, from early-stage pre-revenue biotechnology companies through to listed plcs, as well as investment funds and investment banks operating within the sector.

Prior to joining Osborne Clarke, Matthew was General Counsel for one of the world’s largest Life Sciences, nutrition and wellness focused venture capital investors. Before moving in-house, he worked for international law firms in the UK and Australia. His experience and sector fluency have given him a solid understanding of how to deliver on complex, multi-jurisdictional matters.

He has been recognised by industry bodies, including the team being Highly Commended in the 2023 Life Sciences Team of the Year category at the Legal Business Awards, recognising the team's work with German biotechnology company BioNTech.
