Joana Simões Correia of Exogenus Therapeutics wins Startup Slam “best pitch” at BIO-Europe® 2017

Exogenus Therapeutics (Exo-T), a biotech company dedicated to pre-clinical and clinical development of advanced therapies for skin lesions, was the winner for “best pitch” in the Startup Slam competition at this year’s BIO-Europe® 2017 conference in Berlin. Founder, Executive Director and Chief Scientific Officer Joana Simões Correia talks to EBD’s Kari Bennett about developing the company’s first product, Exo-Wound, for the treatment of chronic wounds, and what’s next for the company in products and partnerships. The Portuguese company has successfully raised EUR 900K seed capital from Caixa Capital and Change Partners, won the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award from ANJE in 2015, and has been selected by the European Commission to receive SME support.
