Labour & Employment Law in the UAE

Course Overview

This course provides an introduction to the all-new UAE Labour Law that went into effect in early 2022, changing more than three decades of practice under the previous 1980 law and reflecting modern regulatory priorities for the new economic landscape in the United Arab Emirates. The course compares the new law with the old law and discusses current practices in the UAE. It also offers insight into how to address issues that often arise in employment relationships in the UAE.

Who Should Attend

This course has been developed for HR professionals in private sector companies throughout the UAE (onshore and free zones), both as a comprehensive introduction to UAE Labour Law as well as a refresher to highlight the changes introduced when the new law repealed the older 1980labour law. It is also recommended for management-level personnel as well as lawyers (in-house and private practice) who have recently transferred to the UAE.

Certification Criteria

You must meet two criteria to be eligible for an Informa Connect Academy Certificate of Completion:

• Satisfactory attendance: You must attend all sessions of the course. If, for any reason, you miss more than 2 hours of the course sessions, you will not be eligible to sit the course assessment
• Successful completion of the course assessment: Assessments will be ongoing and based on in-class participation and activities

Learning Style

The course will cover issues typically arising in employment relationships in the UAE and will link them to specific wording in the 2021 UAE Labour Law and the regulations adopted by the UAE Cabinet in 2022 to implement the Labour Law. The course will emphasise group discussion and Q&A so that delegates can share knowledge and experiences and get practical answers to their questions.
