Master Allergen Safety: Global Food Labelling Challenges Workshop
This workshop will share the emerging food safety allergen threat from a legislative perspective and explore the efficacy of current allergen labelling in the UK – while considering whether existing food safety legislation is sufficient or is a more allergen-focused approach required?
Recent reports across the globe are revealing some worrying statistics of allergens on the rise – with a projection of 240-550 million potential food-allergic people: a huge global health burden. How is allergen legislation protecting these vulnerable groups and is there a false sense of security in using vegan-labelled food to safeguard against an allergic reaction? As one of the emerging areas of food law, allergen management is gaining momentum and continues to demonstrate the reactive nature of legislation.
