State Price Transparency Reporting (SPTR) is a complex and rapidly-evolving area for pharmaceutical manufacturers. Currently, 21 states have SPTR laws (but a few aren’t yet active), and that number is expected to increase in the coming year. There are many challenges in managing SPTR requirements, including the legal interpretation of the diverse laws, the cross-functional nature of the information needed for reporting, and the technical and operational aspects of calculations, report formats, and submission processes.

This presentation from MDRP 2021 by Al Godley and Stephanie Trunk provides a survey of SPTR requirements in all 21 states from both legal and operational perspectives. Al Godley is VP of Customer Solutions at ClassOne Insight and a recognized SPTR expert who has worked with many pharma manufacturers on SPTR operations. Stephanie Trunk is a Partner with the law firm of Arent Fox and one of the foremost legal authorities on interpreting and applying SPTR laws for pharma manufacturers.
