Julie Nilsen-Nygaard (PhD) is Biological Safety Lead at Laerdal Medical. In this role she is responsible for ensuring biocompatibility and safe reprocessing methods for Laerdal’s portfolio of medical devices, ranging from breathing devices to surface contacting devices, and for regulatory compliance in this field. Julie has a strong scientific background, including a PhD and MSc in Biotechnology (biomaterials) from Norwegian University of Science and Technology, along with a BSc in Biomedical science. Before joining Laerdal Medical, transitioning from academia to industry, she gained valuable experience as a research scientist in the field of food packaging, enhancing her understanding of safety and quality control and the potential direct and indirect interactions between polymeric materials and the human body.
