International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP)
Profile
Established in 1928, the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) is an independent, international charity dedicated to advancing radiological protection for the benefit of people and the environment.
ICRP develops science-based recommendations and guidance that form the foundation of radiological protection standards, regulations, and practices worldwide. Its work influences policies and practices across a wide range of sectors, including healthcare, nuclear energy, industry, research, environmental protection, and emergency preparedness.
With a global network of more than 350 volunteer experts representing diverse scientific disciplines and professional backgrounds, ICRP brings together leading specialists to address current and emerging challenges in radiological protection.
Beyond its scientific work, ICRP promotes international cooperation, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge exchange through conferences, symposia, workshops, webinars, and partnerships with governments, international organisations, professional societies, academia, and industry.
Headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, and registered as a charity in England and Wales, ICRP operates internationally, supporting the development and application of effective, practical, and independent radiological protection recommendations.
