Ashley Forbes has led the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s (TCEQ) Radioactive Materials Division as the Deputy Director since 2018. The Radioactive Materials Division licenses activities associated with storing, processing, or disposing of radioactive waste and activities associated with in situ uranium recovery as well as the permitting, registration, and authorization of Class I, III, and V wells in the underground injection control program.
Ms. Forbes has been with the TCEQ for more than 20 years. She has worked to protect public health and natural resources throughout her career and has served in many leadership roles at the TCEQ including leading the development of regulations for controlling industrial point source emissions for ozone reduction; overseeing the remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater at sites throughout Texas; and directing the work of health physicists, engineers, geoscientists, and other environmental professionals in the Radioactive Materials Division.
Ms. Forbes earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Resource & Environmental Studies from Texas State University. She is also a graduate of both the University of Texas LBJ School’s Governor’s Center for Management Development Program and the University of Texas Center for Professional Education’s Leadership Program.
