Dr Darren Koppel is focused on bridging the science-policy gap to ensure that contaminants associated with offshore oil and gas infrastructure are managed to prevent pollution impacts after decommissioning. Darren’s recent research explores the marine behaviour and impact of naturally occurring radioactive materials and mercury in the marine environment. They are also working with industry and regulators to develop best-practice risk assessment guidelines.
