Jonathan Major (PG) is a geologist in the Radiation Protection Division at EPA headquarters in Washington DC. He joined EPA in 2019 to work on the team overseeing the geologic disposal of transuranic wastes at the Department of Energy’s Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in New Mexico. His technical work now includes uranium and NORM/TENORM, and he is a member of the Agency’s National Energy Advisory, and National Mining, and Critical Minerals Permitting Teams. Prior to joining EPA, he worked in oil & gas, mining, and academia. He earned degrees in geology from BYU (BS + MS) and a PhD from UT-Austin working at the Texas Bureau of Economic Geology.
