Profile

Sonali Malhotra Singh, MD, ABOM Diplomate, is a board-certified pediatric endocrinologist and obesity medicine physician who brings a unique integration of academic medicine, clinical trial expertise, and pharmaceutical development leadership to her work. As Global Development Medical Director in Late-Stage Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolism (CVRM) at AstraZeneca, she leads clinical strategy and execution for a portfolio of obesity and Type 2 diabetes therapies. Her leadership spans the full development lifecycle—from Phase 2 and Phase 3 study design to pediatric investigation planning and regulatory engagement with FDA and European authorities assuring scientific rigor, operational readiness, and strategic alignment across complex cardiometabolic development programs.

Before joining AstraZeneca, Dr. Singh served as Medical Director in Medical Affairs at Rhythm Pharmaceuticals, where she led clinical and scientific strategy for the Phase 3 hypothalamic obesity program.

Dr. Singh's academic foundation includes co-directing the Pediatric Obesity Pharmacotherapy Program at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Harvard Blackburn Course in Obesity Medicine. She remains part-time clinical faculty at Harvard Medical School and MGH, where she continues to bridge translational obesity science with real-world patient care. Her perspective is grounded in the belief that rigorous clinical trial design, cross-functional collaboration, and patient-centered endpoints are essential to advancing therapies that meaningfully address the global burden of obesity and metabolic disease, emphasizing the translation of mechanistic insights into implementable trial strategies and fostering partnerships with investigators and sites to deliver high-quality data that can transform clinical practice.
