Jeff Leiper, first elected in 2014, is the City Councillor for Kitchissippi Ward. In this term of Council, he serves as Chair of the Planning and Housing Committee and is a member of Built Heritage Committee, Transit Committee, and Finance and Corporate Services Committee. As Chair, he led initiatives to allow shelters as a permitted use in all urban zones of the city. He has also helped pilot the first acquisition of the Ottawa Community Land Trust. Jeff studied at the University of Ottawa and Algonquin College, obtaining degrees in history and English, and a diploma in print journalism. He has worked as a trade journalist, analyst and executive in the information and communications technology industry in both the public and private sectors.
