Profile

Hans has over 25 years of international corporate experience in managing public policy matters, with an emphasis on packaging sustainability.

After 4 years at the Foundation for Packaging and Environment at the employers organization in The Netherlands, Hans joined the Coca-Cola System in 1998, serving as Director Public Affairs and Communications in The Netherlands for seven years and two years as Sales Director. From 2007 to 2011 Hans was Director Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability at Starbucks Coffee Company for the Europe, Middle-East and Africa region, after which he returned to the Coca-Cola System as Vice-President Public Affairs Europe for Coca-Cola Europacific Partners. He held this position till 2022, when he moved to The Coca-Cola Company as Head of Public Policy for Europe.

From 2017 to 2023 Hans also served as the Chairman of EUROPEN, the European Organization for Packaging and Environment, representing the interests of the entire European packaging supply chain, ranging from raw material suppliers to end-users, including most leading brands.

Hans left The Coca-Cola Company in July 2023 and is now the managing partner of the EU Corporate Advocacy Group that supports companies and trade associations to clearly identify their interests and positions on issues that matter to them most and advocate these amongst societal and governmental stakeholders at the EU and national level. Hans couples strong business acumen with a thorough understanding of the role and works of EPR and deposit return systems and the importance of getting them right from the perspective of the obliged industry.
Hans holds a master degree in Business Administration from the Erasmus University Rotterdam / Rotterdam School of Management.
