Gary is a veteran of the mobile telephone and payment industries, having spent the last 24 years in creating new and alternative payment products in Banks, financial institutions and mobile companies (O2, Barclays, SimplyPayMe and The Payment Firm).

He has always had a bit of a maverick streak looking at ways to innovate and disrupt, he has been an evangelist on push payments and Open Banking and is never afraid on voicing his opinion, no matter how contentious it may seem at the time!

Gary took over as CEO of The Payment Firm in March 2023, with the remit to put his many ideas into practice, launching a range of payment products and services, ranging from EMD, to card issuing and acquiring. However, in his own style and certainly not as a “me too”.

He was born, grew up and educated in East London, although home for the last 23 years has been a North Essex village.
