Profile
Ina Esser is an Assistant Director of Economics at the Competition and Markets Authority. She has more than ten years of experience in competition economics and has particular experience in applying competition economics techniques in the context of digital markets and telecommunications markets.
At the CMA, Ina has led the economic analysis on a number of Phase 2 mergers. She was also a lead economist on a prominent CMA market study and has worked on several Chapter I and Chapter II investigations into high profile firms. Prior to joining the CMA, Ina worked in consulting at RBB Economics, where she worked on a wide range of cases, including horizontal and non-horizontal mergers, alleged exploitative and exclusionary abuses of dominance, market investigations, cartel damages and other forms of private litigation.
Ina has delivered training to competition lawyers on various occasions and has more widely spoken on competition policy issues. Ina studied economics at Maastricht University, where she completed a BSc in Economics and an MSc in International Economic Studies, specialising in Competition and Regulation.
