Phil heads the TMT, Acquisition Finance and Growth Infrastructure teams, covering the EMEA region. The teams are responsible for originating and executing transactions in those sectors.

The TMT team has developed a strong presence in the Digital Infrastructure sector with over 50 transactions closed since 2019 including several significant underwrites across data centres, fibre and towers.

During his time with SMBC he has covered numerous transactions in the telecom, transport, power and water sectors across EMEA as lender. He also acted as part of the ECA coordinator team on several transactions including the Nacala Corridor in Mozambique/Malawi and Az-Zour North IWPP in Kuwait.

Phil has over 22 years of banking and asset finance experience. Prior to joining SMBC Group in 2008, Phil worked for Bank of Scotland and Caterpillar Financial Services.

Phil has an MBA from the University of Birmingham.
