Championing sustainability at RIA Edge West
We're committed to running an event which is both environmentally sustainable and socially responsible.
How are we building a sustainable event?
We believe a sustainable event should focus on:
Social responsibility
We want RIA Edge West to be ran in a socially responsible manner. To do so, we are dedicated to:
- Doing business safely and ethically
- Considering wellbeing and accessibility
- Creating a positive impact on our host cities and measuring this impact
- Supporting sponsors and partners in donating to local and industry-related charities
Environmental responsibility
In hopes of delivering RIA Edge West in an environmentally responsible manner, we have directed our focus toward:
- Reducing carbon emissions
- Creating less waste and discouraging giveaways from exhibitor stands and media partners
- Considering sustainability credentials for every item sourced for the event
Sustainable development
Our aim for RIA Edge West is to promote long-term sustainable development in the way that we run the event, but also in how it's implemented in the market as a whole. We are committed to:
- Using our content to support the sustainability of the wealth management market
- Developing close partnerships with charities, companies and associations and giving them a platform to promote their work in the field
- Facilitating discussions on pertinent topics including diversity & inclusion, gender balance, sustainability trends, the impact on the environment and more
Sustainability practices
The Marina del Rey Ritz-Carlton is not only a stunning waterfront venue, but is also a trusted supporter of our sustainability efforts at RIA Edge West
An eco-responsible venue
In collaboration with Ritz-Carlton, we are significantly reducing the carbon footprint of our event via:
- Automatic shut-off timers for the lights in guest rooms and event space
- Electric vehicle chargers available on-property to support EV use
- Separate food waste, recycling, and trash in front and back of house
- Refillable bath amenities in guest rooms to reduce plastic waste
- Kitchen sourcing from local vendors
Eliminating single-use materials
From flooring to lightbulbs, we are rapidly moving away from the use of single-use exhibition builds. Here's how:
- Banners: we encourage exhibitors to consider sustainable materials when producing banners so that they can be recycled or used again
- Flooring: the Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey expo space is carpeted, eliminating the waste of one time carpet usage
- Digital app: exhibitors are encouraged to minimize handouts by utilizing our digital download QR code technology at their booths.
What you can do to help
- Bring your own bottle and help reduce single-use water bottle waste - water refilling stations are available throughout the venue
- Paper-only name badges without plastic holders will be administered – please keep track of your badge throughout the conference to avoid duplicate printing
- Consider opting for vegetarian and vegan food options and avoid waste
- Reusable coffee cups and mugs will be provided on-site
