Annette Bak, Ph.D., MBA, leads New Modalities Product Discovery and Development at AstraZeneca and serves on the Pharmaceutical Sciences Leadership Team. Based in the US, she leads a global organization across Sweden, the UK, and the US focused on advancing synthetic modalities and mRNA medicines enabled by lipid nanoparticles. Since joining AstraZeneca in 2016, she has delivered multiple drug delivery systems and formulations into preclinical and clinical development and built capabilities in delivery chemistry and intracellular delivery. Previously, she held leadership roles at Amgen and Merck. Annette has authored 60+ publications, is an inventor on multiple patents, and served as AAPS President in 2022.
